Add and preview a feed

You can enter either a website address or a direct feed address. CatchUp RSS looks for a published RSS, Atom or JSON Feed and may use a supported website extractor when no suitable feed is available.

1. Choose Add feed, then enter the site or feed address.
2. Choose Find. CatchUp RSS shows the detected source type, resolved feed address and a preview of sample stories before saving anything.
3. Review or edit the name, choose a topic, then choose Add feed.

Import and export OPML

OPML is a portable list of feed subscriptions. CatchUp RSS preserves topic folders when the OPML file contains them.

1. To import, open Settings and choose Import OPML, then select the OPML file exported by your previous reader.
2. To export, open Settings and choose Export OPML, then save or share the file. The export includes your feed subscriptions and topic structure, but not downloaded stories or read and unread state.

iCloud synchronisation

CatchUp RSS keeps a local copy of your library and synchronises feeds, topics, feed settings, organisation, and read and unread state through your private iCloud account when iCloud is available. You do not need a separate CatchUp RSS account.

Open Settings to see the latest synchronisation status or choose Synchronise now. If iCloud is unavailable, sign in to iCloud and enable CatchUp RSS under Apps Using iCloud in Apple Settings.

Website extraction

Website extraction is a fallback for selected sites that do not publish a suitable feed, or an option you can explicitly prefer in a feed’s settings. It reads publicly available story information from a supported site page.

Extraction depends on the publisher’s public page structure. It is not available for every website and can stop working when a publisher redesigns a page, blocks automated requests or no longer exposes enough reliable story information.

Unsupported or empty feeds

If CatchUp RSS reports that no supported feed was found, confirm that the address opens in a browser and try the website’s main address rather than a guessed feed path. The publisher may not offer RSS, Atom or JSON Feed, and the site may not support reliable extraction.

• If discovery times out, wait and try again; the site may be slow or temporarily blocking requests.
• If a feed is accepted but shows no stories, refresh it and check the source in a browser. Some valid feeds are genuinely empty or omit usable article details.
• If an existing feed stops updating, open its settings and confirm the feed address. Publishers sometimes move or retire feeds.
• For an OPML import with no results, confirm that the file contains RSS or Atom feed outlines with feed addresses.

Privacy

Your library is stored on your device and, when available, in your private iCloud account. CatchUp RSS contacts the feeds and websites you add, and opening an original story contacts that publisher.

CatchUp RSS does not include advertising, analytics or third-party tracking. Optional ad and tracker blocking applies EasyList and EasyPrivacy rules in embedded web views and checks Noble Apps AU for signed rule updates. If an update is unavailable or invalid, bundled rules remain in use.
